It was pretty easy for me to pick a topic to teach about.  I had given my DJ Ditty to my sister and she had been wanting me to teach her how to put music on it.  So, I’m basically killing two birds with one stone!

I was thinking about doing some kind of video tutorial, but decided it wouldn’t be the best way to deliver the step-by-step instructions.  I also thought about creating a powerpoint presentation and then converting it into flash.  In the end, however, it seemed that text with images and examples would be the best and most user friendly option.  Blogging was new to me at the beginning of the class, but I am comfortable enough with it now that it didn’t intimidate me to use this method for this project.

I started my report by looking for some images to use and finding some specific information I could give about the DJ Ditty itself.  I ended up with a long list of specs that went on the first page in the introduction.

I created a new page in my blog entitled, “How to transfer music to a DJ Ditty mp3 player”.  I typed up information in notepad and then copied and pasted it into my blog.  Any images I found to use I saved to my computer.  I then scrolled to the bottom of the “write page” or when I was in the “edit” form of the page and clicked on the “browse” button and selected the image I wanted to post into the page.  I entered the webpage from which I found the image into the “title” field.  I clicked on “upload” next and the image popped up in the “browse” box along with options to edit it and options of sizes and what to link it to, if anything.  Once I made my selections, I clicked “send to editor” and it would appear in the page I was creating or editing.  I could then place it where I wanted it within the page.  The image could then be linked to a webpage, file or larger image or not linked at all.  When you hover over it the “title box” appears in which I’ve placed the web address of it’s original location.

I learned how to take a screenshot on my computer and use it as an image.  My husband actually showed me how.  I  pulled something up on my computer that I wanted to “capture” as an image.  I then hit the “Alt” + “Prnt Scrn” buttons at the same time and it would basically take a picture of the window I wanted a shot of.  If I wanted my entire screen to show I would simply press “Prnt Scrn”.  I then opened Photoshop and pasted the screen shot on a new canvas, edited as needed and then saved it as a jpeg.  It was a surprisingly easy process.  I used a handful of screenshots and once my husband walked me through the process the first time, I was comfortable doing it on my own.
